Yes, it’s true! The High Class Hippie, who is supposed to be ‘living the life’ spent NYE in a tacky trailer park!
Not only did I do that, I also had to pee in a bucket at certain stages over the Christmas break, AND… Wait for it… Shock Horror…
I ate KFC! (only chips and potato and gravy, but still I lined up and bought ‘food’ from KFC!)
You would think that I would never do these things right!? Wrong, and I loved every one of them. Its the 80/20 rule at play in full force!
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE POLISHED ALL THE TIME. Let your hair down, don’t be so precious, or hard on yourself, live a little and know that joy is found in the most unassuming places. It is actually what you make of a situation, not the actual situation itself.
Let me explain…
I have been sailing around beautiful NZ and I didn’t know where I was going to be for NYE. A friend had invited me to his NYE party as I mentioned in my last post, but I had not known if it was possible for us to attend because of location.
In pure Michelle last-minute fashion, I found myself committing to arguably the best NYE party in Auckland and in doing so I had to book accommodation as we would not be able to stay on the boat.
No surprises there was very little available and totally jacked up prices. The only place I could find close to the party venue was a trailer park with 2 cabins left. No shower. Only communal… Which I didn’t use for fear of contracting something lol!
We arrived and it was worse than what I expected. Clean, but basic as! It was literally a trailer park, like something out of the movies, it was a real eye-opener.
My partner Skip and I, eagerly threw our bags down, filled a glass with wine we had bought with us and took off out the door to do a walk around to check everything out. This was some peoples full-time homes!
I said, If I ever got to the stage in life where I ended up living here, it would be the best motivation to get the Fuck out!! Educate myself better, work on myself, surround myself with people who would uplift me out of this shit hole.
We quickly got dressed and caught an Uber to the High Live party of the year!
Wow, what a different experience. Talk about one extreme to the other. This was my old stomping ground from my fashion designer days. Chandeliers, 300-degree panoramic ocean views. 3 levels of dancers, DJ’s and party goers and Moet all round. A far cry from the trailer park we left 10 minutes prior!
I was humbled by the reconnection with so many amazing people I had not seen for years, all of them knowing what I am now doing with my life and business by seeing all my ‘positive things’ online as they called it.
What I loved about this night was the total contrast of the trailer park and the NYE party. The trash V’s the Glam. Staying in possibly the worst shit hole of my life, then being featured in the social pages. Haha! If only they knew where I slept that night lol!
Next day, back to the boat as fast as we could and off to experience the beautiful wineries of Waiheke Island!
Life is what you make of it. It is all the magical moments that count. It’s the 80/20 rule and the ability to be flexible and have fun, feel good and have a positive outlook on life in every situation.
Similarly to this NYE experience, I had to pee in a bucket while on an 80-foot boat. Who would have thought that you would have to do such a thing while living in luxury! Well, I did it, numerous times. The toilet malfunctioned and we had to get a plumber in. A less than ideal situation over the Christmas period. But it was rather liberating! Taking me back to my childhood where peeing in a bucket on a boat was quite normal.
Again, 80% Lux, 20%… not so much!
It’s what you make of it, taking the ebbs and flow of life. You gotta do what you gotta do and when you gotta go you gotta go! May as well make light of the whole situation.
And lastly, the KFC….. Yes well. I haven’t had takeaways for over 7 years now and I was rather horrified with myself initially event contemplating those chips. As I stood in line I was thinking… I hope nobody sees me haha. How stupid is that! (also at the time knowing full well that I would expose myself by writing about it at some stage. Now here I am. Judge me as you will lol!)
I was surprised by the price of fast food these days. It has pretty much doubled since I ordered it all those years ago.
I swiped my bag off the counter and hastily hurried to my corner table to devour my contraband.
I hate to say it, but it was pretty good. Definitely not something I would race back and order any time soon, but it satisfied my curiosity. Now back to my organic normally and green juices thanks.
Life is not about always being polished, always eating like an angel, living in luxury or ALWAYS having to have the best of everything.
I do this 80% of the time. And 20% of the time you will find me at a trailer park, peeing in a bucket and eating KFC. Hopefully never all three of these at once, that’s too much…
Life is about being the best of you. It’s about having the things you want in life by making each moment count when you choose your feelings, you choose your experience.
100% of the time doing what’s right, what’s needed to get shit done, to be a better person and what is needed to have a positive experience no matter what the situation.
Life is about living. In every moment.
Bring on more of this please!!
Let’s Do This!
